Base Fees

The minimum mandatory fees required for Ethereum transactions to be included in blocks, adjusted automatically based on network congestion

Block Builders

Block Builders are Ethereum nodes that construct and propose new blocks, competing to have their block included in the blockchain

Ethereum Gas Trading

The practice of buying and selling the right to include transactions in Ethereum blocks, using the gas price as the trading commodity.

Gwei

Gwei is a denomination of Ether, the native cryptocurrency of Ethereum. 1 Ether = 1,000,000,000 Gwei, used to measure Ethereum gas fees

MEV

MEV (Maximal Extractable Value) is the profit block producers can obtain by optimally ordering transactions in an Ethereum block

Mempool

The mempool is the pool of unconfirmed transactions waiting to be included in the next Ethereum block by miners

Priority Fees

Optional tips added to Ethereum transaction fees to incentivize faster block inclusion by miners/validators

Proposer Builder Separation

'PBS' is an Ethereum upgrade that separates block construction and block proposal, improving decentralization and security

Proposers

Proposers are Ethereum nodes that compete to have their constructed block included in the blockchain, earning the block reward and txn fees

Relayers

An ETH infrastructure provider helping users submit txns by handling gas price management and other network interactions on their behalf

Validators
